Meet Our Special Guest Panelists
Nancie King Mertz
Nancie King Mertz has spent her lifetime painting pastel and oil. A Master Signature member of the Pastel Society of America and the Chicago Pastel Painters, Nancie’s work has been featured on the cover of Pastel Journal and in PleinAir Magazine, and appears in collections around the world. With an extensive fine art education, Nancie teaches across the US and internationally and is on the faculty of Streamline Publishing’s upcoming Pastel Live virtual conference. Nancie has traveled extensively for inspiration, however, Chicago remains her favorite city to explore and paint, where she was twice named “Artist of the Year.” 
Rita Kirkman
Rita Kirkman has been using pastel since the age of 11 and had her first portrait commission at 17. She has a degree in Fine Arts, is a popular workshop instructor, and is a signature member of the Pastel Society of America and an Eminent Pastelist with the International Association of Pastel Societies. Her paintings are in private collections on five continents and have been featured in many publications including the Pastel Journal and the Pratique des Arts Spécial Pastel. Rita will be on the faculty of Streamline Publishing’s Pastel Live virtual conference in August.
Lyn Diefenbach
Lyn Diefenbach works in both pastel and oil and is particularly well-known for her bold floral compositions. A native of Australia, Lyn has received multiple awards for her paintings and can often be found teaching her art “Down Under”. Lyn was accepted into the International Guild of Realism in 2008 and holds Master Pastelist status with the Pastel Society of Australia. She was awarded Eminent Pastellist status in the International Association of Pastel Societies in 2019 and was accepted into the Pastel Society of America as a Signature Member in 2016. She has been featured numerous times in the International Artist, Pastel Journal and Australian Artist magazines. Lyn will also be an instructor at the Pastel Live virtual conference. 
Meet Your Hosts
Eric Rhoads
Eric Rhoads is the founder of Streamline Publishing, Inc. A fixture in the world of art instruction, Eric is a plein air and studio painter, the publisher of the magazines PleinAir and Fine Art Connoisseur, and the host of various painters virtual events like Plein Air Live, Realism Live, Watercolor Live and Pastel Live (coming this August!). You can meet him in person at the annual Plein Air Convention and Expo or on one of his publisher’s invitational painting trips. 
Gail Sibley
Gail Sibley is the editor of Streamline Publishing’s Pastel Today newsletter. A top pastelist, blogger and instructor, Gail has a BFA from the University of Manitoba and MA in Art History from Queen’s University. In 2002, she was awarded Signature Membership in the Pastel Society of America. She also holds Master status with Pastel Artists Canada. Offered in galleries in Grand Cayman and Canada, Gail’s vibrant pastel work includes plein air (both rural and urban), still life, figures, and abstracts. Her paintings can be found in private and corporate collections all over the world. She resides in Victoria, Canada.
